Roy Partridge 1942 - 2007 Roy Partridge was the business partner of John Hodson and the company’s founder and died suddenly on Saturday 10 March. It is hard to put into words just how important Roy was to the old car movement, like all those who achieve excellence, he was a passionate and sensitive man who cared about everything he did and restoring exotic coachbuilt cars most of all. He’d been a member of the RREC since the early days and won his first best in Show at the age of 19 in 1962, from then on he continued to produce a string of prize-winning restorations at all the major venues and culminating with Nick Whitaker’s Gurney Nutting PIII AZ168 which received no less than five awards at last year’s annual Rally. It is fitting tribute to man who was restoring R-R before there was a restoration business. Sadly the RREC’s policy of not publishing Company names, only individuals, means that everyone is familiar with Healey Bros, P&A Wood and Will Fiennes but not perhaps one of the oldest and most established of all. Roy never married and is survived by a sister and his business Partner John Hodson who has pledged resolve to keep the company running as it always has, the team has never been stronger and he has the support of close friends and colleagues to see that he succeeds.
